Peter heads the firm’s Energy and Environmental Group.  He is both an environmental authority and an advisor to energy industry clients on commodity regulatory issues, commercial matters, compliance issues and transactions.  His experience extends to the energy policy matters and the regulatory and trade laws that govern the energy business.

Peter represents a broad spectrum of U.S. and international energy companies.  In addition to U.S. firms, his clients include significant European and Asian companies trading petroleum, natural gas and electricity.  Peter also works with leading nuclear energy companies.  He is counsel to the world’s largest energy commodities exchange, several major investment banking companies and a number of power marketers and power project developers.

Peter also heads the firm’s Energy Compliance Team and works regularly with the firm’s energy clients on internal and external investigative matters.  He has been an expert witness on the environmental laws that affect fuel products and frequently speaks on energy policy and environmental topics, including oil spill management.

Peter was a legislative aid to United States Senator Alan Cranston of California in 1970 and 1971.  He has practiced environmental, energy and commodities law in Washington since 1974.
